Though they definitely work a little differently than traditional tobacco cigarettes, electronic cigarettes are actually very easy to use. In this article, one will discover how to get started immediately.

Gathering the required parts

The majority of electronic cigarettes come with a battery charger, so you can get started right off. If you find your battery is completely drained, plug it in for a couple hours to charge and then come back to this walk-through.

The 3 main pieces you should get together are one battery, one atomizer, and one cartridge. Finding these objects should be easy. You can identify the battery by its length and the presence of a LED on its tip. The atomizer is probably the smallest item in the box with a small braided metallic thing sticking out of one end of it. Lastly, the cartridge, which holds the nicotine solution, is roughly the size of the filter on a normal cigarette. The cartridges can be uncovered at the end or possibly have a plastic cap or even a full foil covering. Before putting anything together, you need to take off the cover, so start with this first step.

Assembling the electronic cigarette

Putting the electronic cigarette together is quite simple once you have amassed all of the components. An atomizer normally attaches to one end of the battery, so go on and do this. With most brands, all you need to do is slide the open end of the cartridge over the tip of the metal-braided end of the atomizer.

Trying it out

What you do after this is based on if you have an automatic or manual battery. Those of you with automatic batteries can inhale lightly on the cartridge end of the assembled electronic cigarette after bringing it to your lips. Push the button on the battery as you breathe in if you have a manual battery. If you do this before a mirror, you can see if the LED at the end of the battery is coming on. If it isn’t, the battery is probably dead and it needs recharging.

If the LED is lighting up but you aren’t receiving any vapor, inhale on it for a few seconds, wait, then inhale again. Repeat this process 5 – 10 times as sometimes it takes a bit for the nicotine solution to work its way up into the atomizer.

In the event that you’ve tried for a while and are still not getting vapor, attempt taking some harder pulls (though normally you shouldn’t need to pull any harder than on a normal cigarette).

Now is the step that you can expect to see a good amount of vapor production. Atomizers take a few days to break in and get working properly. The taste at first might be unpleasant. This isn’t unusual, and it should disappear in a day or so.

If you’re still not getting any vapor production, slide the cartridge off the atomizer. The wick should be moist. There should be some nicotine solution on there. If it is damp and you’re not getting any vapor, atomizer of yours is dead. However, if it’s not damp, your nicotine solution may not be getting up to the atomizer like it should.

If you look on the inside of the cartridge you should be able to locate a small cotton ball about 3 mm in diameter. The nicotine solution should moisten the fabric. If not, you’ve got an empty cartridge.

If everything checks out, and there is still no vapor, then you will need to phone the place you bought it from and have it replaced.
